Poolside Drink Recipes – Fall Edition 21+

September 13th, 2022 by

When the sun turns the day off, you can turn the night on. Just because no one is in the pool, doesn’t mean it can’t be a great backdrop for your chilly nights out. Picture this: the firepit is burning, you’re bringing the old blankets and pillows out, the sounds of the night are loud and relaxing – all you need now is something to sip on.

Whether you’re into chilly drinks, or ones that will warm you up – maybe even pour into an insulated mug – these are the recipes for you!

Bourbon Cranberry Cocktail

Ingredients for 10-12 servings

2 cups fresh cranberries

1 cup orange juice

⅓ cup sugar

3 cinnamon sticks

1 liter bourbon

Orange Peels for Garnish

Combine cranberries, orange juice, sugar and cinnamon sticks in a small saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring to a simmer and cook, stirring, until the sugar dissolves and cranberries start to pop (5 minutes). Let cool, and then combine with the bourbon in a pitcher.

The Essential Espresso Martini

Ingredients (1 serving)

1 oz. espresso

1.5 oz. vodka

1.5 oz. Kahlua

1 oz. Crème De Cocoa

Combine all ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice, shake well for 20 seconds, strain into a martini class – adding espresso beans for a nice garnish. Add ice to a blender and blend ingredients for a frozen one!

Cinnamon Tequila Sour

Ingredients (2 servings)

2 oz Tequila

2 tbsp simple syrup

2 tbsp lemon juice

¼ tsp cinnamon

1 egg white (optional)

Pour tequila, simple syrup, lemon juice, and cinnamon into a cocktail shaker filled with ice, shake well for 15-20 seconds, strain into 2 chilled glasses – use egg white in first step as an option – shake well and strain twice.

Earl Gray Martini

Ingredients (2 servings)

1 tsp Earl Gray Tea leaves

1.5 oz. gin

White sugar – for rimming

1 wedge lemon

1.5 oz. lemon juice

2 oz. simple syrup

Sprinkle tea leaves over gin, let steep for 2 hours. Pour ½ inch of white sugar into a small plate, or rimming plate. Rim the martini glasses with the wedge of 1 lemon, dip the rims in a circular motion into the white sugar. Strain the infused gin, lemon juice, and simple syrup into a cocktail shaker over ice, and shake until the outside is frosted, strain again into glasses to be served.

The Classic Hot Toddy

Ingredients (1 serving)

2 fluid oz boiling water

1.5 oz whiskey

1 tsp honey

3 whole cloves

1 cinnamon stick

1 slice lemon

1 pinch ground nutmeg

Pour boiling water, whiskey, and honey into a mug. Add cloves, cinnamon, and a lemon slice. Let the mixture sit for 5 minutes so the flavors can marry, and sprinkle the nutmeg just as about to serve on top.

Cheers to the Fall!
